LAN Of The Damned run regular events located in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. These events focus on multiplayer computer gaming over a LAN (Local Area Network), and are held every two or three months. Each event includes several competitions with prizes, cheap pizza orders for gaming stamina, McDonald's for breakfast, and of course plenty of action in the latest computer games as well as some old favourites. If you're new to the gaming LAN scene or don't know what to expect, take a look at our Newbie Guide for a run down on LAN preparation, or jump into our forums and talk to some of the LANing veterans there. Of course we also have photos from all our past events to amuse and inform.

That's our 20th LAN over with. Congratulations to all our prize recipiants, particularly our competition winners. The Call Of Duty 4 comp was won by Iceman who received a shiny trophy and a 2GB DDR2 pack from Crucial. The Jedi Academy comp was won by The Master who received the shiny trophy, with the prize of a 2GB DDR2 pack thanks to Gigasoft IT Solutions going the the runner-up Nova Nero.

We'd like to thank our sponsors for the nice haul of prizes, Thermaltake, Jack's Games, AMD & South West TAFE.Thanks also to McDonald's & Pizza Haven for supplying discounted meals.

I hope everyone enjoyed the event, there was plenty of good gaming to be had. A few of us even got into some Serious Sam ;)

LAN Of The Damned XX - TAFE Sponsorship (19 March, 2009, 10:23 AM)

General
South West TAFE is supplying us with a very generous donation for LANOTD XX. We could have hired a boat, bought some drinks, and had one hell of a fishing trip... but instead we're going to put the money towards more prizes for you guys to take home :)
Naturally enough their generosity has a purpose, the guys at TAFE would like to make us all aware or their Adv Diploma Of Computer Systems Engineering. At least 3/4 of our admins have attended this course in the past, and I think we'd all agree it's definately worth considering if you plan a career in IT. The course material covers several recognised industry qualifications including Microsoft Certification, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and CompTIA's A+ Certification. It also includes some Java programing and Linux. There'll be some representatives from TAFE at our event should anyone wish to learn more about the course.

LAN Of The Damned XX - Sponsorship (05 March, 2009, 10:46 AM)

Some of you guys may remember me mentioning Jack's Games and their Gold Membership last event. Well for LANOTD XX not only are they giving us a $50 voucher, but every entrant to the LAN will receive a voucher for 10% off any Gold Membership.

To refresh your memories, Gold Members can borrow a game or DVD, and them keep it for as long as they like. Once you get sick of it simply go back and exchange it (for a small fee) which can also be kept indefinately, and so on. You not longer have to worry about returning games after only a week or paying late fines. If it takes you 6 months to finish your fave new game, that's no problem. I personally think it's a cool idea.

Prices for Gold Membership are listed below:
P3, XBox 360, Wii - $100 joining fee, $10 exchange
XBox, P2, PSP, PC - $50 joining fee, $5 exchange
DVDs - $30 joining fee, $5 exchange

LAN Of The Damned XX - Sponsors (04 March, 2009, 06:57 PM)

We've picked up some more sponsors for our upcoming event, the more the merrier we say ;)
Crucial have sent us some nice stuff to give away including a 2 gig DDR2 kit and some of those cool foam hawgs :)
Superbilling is continuing their fine tradition of providing some $50 vouchers to their store. Given their low prices these could be quite useful for post-LAN upgrading.
Gigasoft IT Solutions have also kindly pitched in a 2 gig RAM kit, looks like it's going to be upgrade central this LAN :)

We've been holding LANs for 6 years now, and believe it or not, this will be our 20th LAN Of The Damned event. Due to this we're hoping to make it our best event to date, including more prizes than ever before. The event will be held March 28th 12pm - March 29th 2pm, once more at the Warrnambool College Hall in Grafton Road Warrnambool. Entry will be only $15. So far we have sponsorship from Thermaltake, South West TAFE and AMD, but there's sure to be more coming.

So be sure to register for our 20th LAN and help us make it the bestest ever.

For more info keep an eye on the LANOTD XX Thread

LAN Of The Damned XIX - The Aftermath (16 September, 2008, 12:43 PM)

Although the venue stiffed us on tables, the LAN went very well, we even had a bit of a MOHAA run. People's behaviour definately improved, though in future we'd like those who have their little group huddles to setup on the OUTSIDE of the rows so they don't choke up the main thoroughfare in the center of the rows.

Thanks to Lotness and Donkey for their help during setup and packup. A special thanks goes to Donkey's better half, not only for helping out, but also for putting up with his crap for so long

Congratulations are in order for Ginga Ninja on his win in the Quake 4 competition and also to Novanero for winning the Trackmania Nations Forever competition. That Trackmania comp was crazy fun, and I wasn't even taking part  Unfortunately Lotness had less luck in the Kill Da Admin comp.

We'd like to thank our sponsors for the swath of prizes we had to give away. Items were donated by Crucial, Super Billing, Thermaltake, Jack's Games, Netspace & Gigasoft IT Solutions. We gave out heaps of "Gamer Of The Hour" prizes and the raffle was great fun, who'd have expected Peachy to draw himself, and on the very first draw too, lol. Thanks also to McDonald's and Pizza Haven for the discounted meals *pats belly* Photos from the event are now available to view in our photo gallery
