LAN Of The Damned run regular events located in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. These events focus on multiplayer computer gaming over a LAN (Local Area Network), and are held every two or three months. Each event includes several competitions with prizes, cheap pizza orders for gaming stamina, McDonald's for breakfast, and of course plenty of action in the latest computer games as well as some old favourites. If you're new to the gaming LAN scene or don't know what to expect, take a look at our Newbie Guide for a run down on LAN preparation, or jump into our forums and talk to some of the LANing veterans there. Of course we also have photos from all our past events to amuse and inform.

LAN Of The Damned XXI - The Aftermath (21 September, 2009, 07:02 PM)

General
Well LAN Of The Damned XXI went very well. I think we had the highest attendance we've ever had. The competitions were good fun, congratulations to Ginga Ninja for winning the UT2004 competition and accumulating yet another trophy and 4gig of DDR2. Congratulations to Team7 for winning the Call Of Duty 4 Promod competition and receiving medals and Thermaltake aluminium mouse pads.

Guitar Hero was popular as it always is and it looked great on The Master's projector, especially with the lights and smoke provided by Skormatix. The pizza from Eagle Boys was popular, we ordered 45 and they made like 3 trips delivering them :) Of course the McDonalds breakfast was popular as well.
We had quite a nice prize pool this LAN for which we'd like to thank Thermaltake, South West TAFE & Gigasoft IT Solutions.

We made it into the paper again!!! The Standard has published a follow up article

Photos from the event can be found in our Photo Gallery

The article can also be found online for those who have lost the ability to read printed text.

We'd like to thank Lotness and SomeBreedOfDonkey for their participation and of course Tina Liptai for taking an interest in our humble event.

LAN Of The Damned XXI - Sponsors (31 August, 2009, 10:05 PM)

We have some good sponsors onboard for the coming LAN Of The Damned and hopefully there will be more to come.

On the consumables front, Eagle Boys are the new pizza shop in town and their menu looks promising. They'll be providing us with discounted large pizzas on Saturday night, $5 for their classic range and $8 for their premium range. If anyone wants to give them a test run before the LAN they can be found at 137 Timor Street. Also McDonald's will be providing us with a discounted breakfast menu on Sunday morning. There will also be a drinks machine available courtesy of Snack Attack and possibly some munchies as well. As always tea & coffee can be found in the kitchen free of charge.

Gigasoft IT Solutions are providing a 2 year license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 to give away. They will also have some copies for sale at very cheap prices. Just see our very own Dark Trunks to learn more.

The South West Institute of TAFE are again providing some generous funding for our event, which means better prizes for you guys ;)
They are promoting their Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Engineering which, for those unfamiliar with it, is course we'd recommend for anyone considering a career in IT. The course includes several industry recognised certificates such as Microsoft certification, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and CompTIA's A+ Certification. It also includes some Java programming and Linux.

Registrations are now open for the next installment of LAN Of The Damned. Once more the LAN will be held at the Warrnambool College Hall and entry will be $15. The event will run from 12pm September 19th - 2pm September 20th.

We've already picked up a couple of sponsors with Thermaltake providing us with some great stuff to give away. Superbilling are once more pitching in with some vouchers and they'll also be running a stall at the LAN so be sure to bring some cash along and peruse their goodies. Besides you'll need some to buy pizza ;)

We'd like to thank our sponsors for the nice haul of prizes, Thermaltake, Jack's Games, AMD & South West TAFE.Thanks also to McDonald's & Pizza Haven for supplying discounted meals.

LAN Of The Damned XX - TAFE Sponsorship (19 March, 2009, 10:23 AM)

General
South West TAFE is supplying us with a very generous donation for LANOTD XX. We could have hired a boat, bought some drinks, and had one hell of a fishing trip... but instead we're going to put the money towards more prizes for you guys to take home :)
Naturally enough their generosity has a purpose, the guys at TAFE would like to make us all aware or their Adv Diploma Of Computer Systems Engineering. At least 3/4 of our admins have attended this course in the past, and I think we'd all agree it's definately worth considering if you plan a career in IT. The course material covers several recognised industry qualifications including Microsoft Certification, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and CompTIA's A+ Certification. It also includes some Java programing and Linux. There'll be some representatives from TAFE at our event should anyone wish to learn more about the course.
